My roommates arrived in KC earlier this month, and since then I've been out and about participating in a number of activities. These past couple of weeks, in particular, were especially fun-filled.
One of my adventures consisted of a trip to Pawn and Pint with my roommates, where we played Forbidden Island and (of course) Cards Against Humanity. If you live in Kansas City and haven't checked out Pawn and Pint, I highly recommend that you do so. For a 5$ entry fee, you can play any number of board games from their vast selection all day long.
Just across the street from Pawn and Pint is PT's at the Crossroads. It's got a swell atmosphere, great coffee, and (as mandated by an all-knowing god) Wi-fi. I spent several hours there working on my rough draft of this quarter's Writers of the Future Entry! That's right, friends--I'm planning to enter for the first time since receiving an award for Edwin three years ago. I'm quite proud of how my current draft is turning out and simply cannot wait to share it with everyone!
I also found time to check out Artist and Craftsman Supply (also near Pawn and Pint and PT's), Lew's (a bar in downtown Kansas City where I nursed a Manhattan), and head to Hammerhand for a live performance from Deanna Ray, a young, local, talented musical artist. All in all, there's been a lot to do and I'm looking forward to what I'll occupy myself with this upcoming weekend.
